Pompeii is a song by British band Bastille, from their debut studio album Bad Blood (2013). The song was released as a digital download on 24 February 2013. It reached number one in Ireland, and peaked at number two in Italy and the UK. It also holds the record for the longest time at number one on the Official Streaming Chart, remaining at the peak for seven weeks. American Prog Rock band Coheed and Cambria released a digital EP via their Facebook on 12 October featuring a cover of Pompeii as well as one of their originals and two songs from the bands I the Mighty and Balance and Composure.
Lyrically, Pompeii is inspired by the Roman town known by the same name, which met its fate with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
